Morillon

Why we chose to build in the area, and why we continue to have a love affair with it.

We never thought we would say that we enjoy the summer more than the winter, but after discovering all there is to do here I can now say that we do!

The chalet is only a very short walk to a beautiful lake that has a sandy beach. Around the lake is an aerial adventure park, trampolines and children's play area. There are also tennis courts and crazy golf. An equestrian centre is based at the lake and there is a charming cafe and restaurant there too. White water rafting and other river pursuit can be booked in the village.

Marked trails for high mountain walks are too numerous to list here. Info can all be found at the local tourist office.

Mountain biking is of course very popular. The main ski lifts are open during the prominent school holidays.

Cycling, mountain biking and hiking are of course on the doorstep. The Giffre is a long flat wooded valley making cycling and walking easy for all age groups. There are well marked trails through the woods.

The local town of Samoens is a beautiful medieval site. A colourful market is held there every Wednesday morning. Many local events and entertainments are put on throughout the summer by the tourist offices of Samoens and Morillon.

For those who want to travel further afield, within an hour you can visit Chamonix, St Gervais, Annacey and a number of a other interesting towns.

The Giffre Valley offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps. Rivers and lakes are very close by (walking distance from the Chalet) and of course, we are only 200 metres away from the gondola lift that connects directly with all of the Grand Massif area.

Morillon itself is an authentic working savoyard village. It has a varied selection of specalised shops from sports shops to restaurants, supermarkets and bars. Only 4km away is Samoens which is a small town and in itself is an historic monument starting from the 12th Century.

Mark Little-Jones

I started skiing at the age of seven and have been lucky enough to have skied every year since. With good reason skiing has become my passion. Getting out on the slopes most days.

The mountains for us have opened up countless sporting opportunities. The summer is filled with an overwhelming number of activities. In addition to the cycling and walking, I also really enjoy my sailing, and playing a bad game of golf.

Ros Little-Jones

I started out as a teacher before becoming a wine merchant (some connection may be detected there). My little business still runs but allows me to spend time in the Alps. I took up skiing at 19 and like Mark it has become my passion. Although I enjoy cycling and walking, I especially enjoy gardening and cooking.

Having both run businesses for 30 years we decided to build a chalet in the Alps in 2000, adding an extension in 2008. Now our passion has become our way of life. We are very close to the lift for skiing and situated on a flat valley which is great for cycling.

We hope we can pass this passion on to our guests. We are happy to help where we can with information, skiing, ski routes, ski stops, equipment and children.
