Why we chose to build in the area, and why we continue to have a love affair with it.

We’ve skied many areas of Europe. Once we discovered the Grand Massif area, we realised it was actually hardly known as a holiday destination, yet boasted huge potential as a place to go in both winter and summer.

We started our adventure in 2000 moving into the brand new Chalet Paula, and in 2008 we added a large contemporary extension and swimming pool. This gave us the flexibility to create 7 double bedrooms in 3 distinct sections, all with freeview TV and WiFi.

Offering easy access at all times of the year, Morillon is just 1 hour from Geneva airport and 8 hours from Calais. We have found it ideal for both ourselves and our guests.

We offer full weeks, long weekends and short breaks.
Catered or self catered can be arranged.

Come and experience Morillon for yourself - the area still entrances us with both varied, challenging skiing and glorious summers.

The Giffre Valley offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps. Rivers and lakes are very close by (walking distance from the Chalet) and of course, we are only 200 metres away from the gondola lift that connects directly with all of the Grand Massif ski area, offering 265 km of pisted ski slopes and acres of off-piste. We advise hiring any ski gear from Rol Sports, who allow you to leave equipment overnight, thus avoiding carrying gear to and from the chalet each day.

The snow record of the area is one of the most reliable throughout Europe due to the close proximity of Mont Blanc. Skiing is available from mid-December to late April.

Morillon itself is an authentic working savoyard village. It has a varied selection of specalised shops from sports shops to restaurants, supermarkets and bars. Only 4km away is Samoens which is a small town and in itself is an historic monument starting from the 12th Century.

I started out as a teacher before becoming a wine merchant (some connection may be detected there). My little business still runs but allows me to spend time in the Alps. I took up skiing at 19 and like Mark it has become my passion. Although I enjoy cycling and walking, I especially enjoy gardening and cooking.

Having both run businesses for 30 years we decided to build a chalet in the Alps in 2000, adding an extension in 2008. Now our passion has become our way of life. We are very close to the lift for skiing and situated on a flat valley which is great for cycling.

We hope we can pass this passion on to our guests. We are happy to help where we can with information, skiing, ski routes, ski stops, equipment and children.

I started skiing at the age of seven and have been lucky enough to have skied every year since. With good reason skiing has become my passion. Getting out on the slopes most days.

The mountains for us have opened up countless sporting opportunities. The summer is filled with an overwhelming number of activities. In addition to the cycling and walking, I also really enjoy my sailing, and playing a bad game of golf.
